313 freestyles. Give him a word and he builds a verse around it, in time, on the beat, without stopping to think about it — and that afternoon he is going to show you how it is done.
He performs first. Then he plays the verse back and takes it apart: where each rhyme came from, what he set up two bars early, where he was buying himself time. From a seat it looks like magic. Pulled apart, it is a skill you can practise.
Not only for rappers. Writing in real time is what makes a session finish instead of dying — the producer who can hum a topline on the spot, the singer who does not freeze when the red light is on. It is a class on thinking out loud without stopping.
Write it while you say it

Open conversation and Q&A to close. Bring a word — he will build a verse out of it. You do not have to rap, and nobody is made to perform; you write one bar on a slip during the class and read it only if you want to.
